Second Uncharted 3 review arrives, scores slightly lower than predecessor

Update 2: Score confirmed. To compare, Gears of War 3 received a 96% in the same issue.

Update: There are some questions as to whether or not the score is the real deal – we’ll let you know if we can confirm it. There’s no question that the game received a Gold Award, though.

Following Playmagazine’s review, Dutch publication Power Unlimited has provided their own verdict for Uncharted 3. The magazine did indeed give the game a “Gold Award”, along with a reported 94% mark.

Uncharted 3 scored a slightly lower than its predecessor. Uncharted 2 earned a 100% grade back in 2009.

Even so, Power Unlimited still believes that Uncharted 3 is one of the best PlayStation 3 game to date. The magazine wrote:

“Uncharted 3 is Drake’s most varied, compelling and overwhelming adventure ever! It is jaw-dropping… The whole game is full of highlights. One of the best games ever for the PlayStation 3 to date.”

    Having played, beat and got bored of Gears 3. It is awesome that Uncharted 3 is coming out.

    that’s quite high. Seeing as how they are recycling all the same elements of U2 (which in itself was recycling from other games gameplay wise)

    That sucks the enemies still soak up them bullets…

    Good score, but lower than Gears 3? Obviously I know they’re two different reviewers and I haven’t actually played Uncharted 3, but I highly doubt I’ll enjoy UC3 less than Gears 3.

    I will say though, that I think Gears 3 is the best in the series and it’s the most balanced online shooter I’ve ever played… But Uncharted 2′s campaign is just on a MUCH higher level. And, in terms of the multiplayer ‘fun-factor’, I’d say the UC3 Beta was actually more enjoyable than Gears 3.

    Uncharted 3 will be great. No doubt. Uncharted 2 was…but people need to stop acting like the Uncharted series has always been a AAA series. Uncharted 1 was nothing spectacular. Pretty for the time, but it suffered serious screen tearing and pacing issues(in my opinion of course). Uncharted 2 is still my favorite game on ps3, and I look forward to UC3…but you fanboys…come on. Gears 3 is fantastic. If you aren’t playing it you’re doing yourself a disservice as a gamer. Same if you’ve never played UC2.

    To he who saw the 2% difference in score between Gears and Uncharted as an opportunity to say “PS3/Uncharted sucks / Xbox/Gears rules”: seriously, get a life – oh, and a stronger argument. Two scores from one magazine is hardly a solid basis for such a ‘fact’.

    Just shows that Playstation 3 games are held to a higher standard.
    We all know that Gears Of War 3 doesn’t hold up against Uncharted 3.
    Gears is a mediocre third person shooter at best that isn’t much different from the first.
    Its script is bad, the mechenics are the same old tech whe’ve seen for years in a row and the set peaces are to yawn at.

    That all aposed to Uncharted 2/3, these games are the EPIDIME! of what is possible in action shooters to date.

    I’m sure UC3 has a good, but short (7-8hr), singleplayer, of that there is no doubt.

    But UC3′s multiplayer is mediocre at best. There’s far better games for multiplayer this season…
    Gears of War3 (superbly polished multi)
    BF3 (demo is good, not ground breaking but it’s fun)
    MW3 (you can be your bottom dollar that the multi is gonna be slick, fast and polished)
    Halo:HD (can’t wait to play those classic maps again)

    UC3 is good for single… just OK for multi… shame really.

    Uncharted is the best game ever created on any platform (PC included). It has the best graphics I’ve ever seen in a game. Everyone should go out and buy Uncharted 3 when it comes out!

    all the Uncharted games were great and im sure UC3 is gonna be great. Gears has been good also the whole way through. Enjoy all the games.

    Still very much overrated and very little replay value coz the multiplayer sucks. Online pass and Season pass, my ass!

    Oh, and Gears 3 has good and diverse multiplayer leading to goog replay value, just sayin’.

    I had actually anticipated such a score. In truth I imagine however good Uncharted 3 turns out it isn’t the dramatic jump Uncharted 2 made from its predecessor…more fine tuning and tweaking I imagine, same as it was with Mario Galaxy 1 & 2.

    The Uncharted series is extremely linear. Yes it’s a very good linear game, but it really doesn’t offer much replay value in single player.

    For this reason alone I feel the Uncharted games are very over-rated, fun though they are. If you can see past the glit you see that the actual gameplay mechanics are pretty dated in most instances. I expect a few surprises form UC2 to UC3, but little else.

    For online, I’ll stay with BattleField 3 and Modern Warfare3… the beta for UC3 was rather unbalanced and broken IMO.

    As an Xbox and PS3 fan, I can honestly say Uncharted has been one of my favourite franchises of this generation.

    No one can deny it that and Uncharted 3 is gonna be amazing.

    Gonna be playing Battlefield3 instead. Too mnay games out this year, played UC2 already, so more fo the same doesn’t appeal to me. I’m looking for a new experience and I think BF3 is gonna be it.

    Then I’ll buy Mass Effect3 when it comes out. Just don’t have the money to buy all these games, got to pick and choose.

    I don’t see how Battlefield 3 is a new experience. Its fun and looks pretty sure, but its the same battlefield experience at its core with some new unlockables. Im positive it will be great but not revolutionary.
