Gaming magazine “Atomic” has provided the first verdict of Bethesda’s “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” in an exclusive review. It seems that the title has lived up to expectations – the Australian publication awarded Bethesda’s highly-anticipated RPG with a 95% score.

Breaking things down, Skyrim earned a 97% score for gameplay (“Something for every style of play.”), 92% for graphics (“The game’s environments are amazing.”), 95% for sound (“Sounds so real that you’ll flinch.”), and 95% for the “overall” category. To conclude, Atomic said, “Start stockpiling holiday time – you’ll want to play a lot of this game.”

The review is rather lengthy, but be on the lookout for more details and images.

Once SKYRIM is released, my social life is OVER. Been waiting 5 years for this and from what I heard it fully delivers!

“By Reddit ing on Nov 6, 2011

    Paid review”

some people just have hard time accepting that TES games are always superior.

  7. By Seven on Nov 6, 2011

The reviewer didn’t enjoy Morrowind at all and it even made him hate RPGs… But he loves Skyrim?

    PREORDER CANCELLLLLLLED

  8. By wtfkarazhan on Nov 6, 2011

@karazhan: bethesda has shown skyrim first at vga 2010

  11. By dgf on Nov 6, 2011

    developer id software?

    whats wrong with you guys.

also isnt there an embargo for reviews till 10th?

  12. By Karazhan on Nov 6, 2011

    @wtfkarazhan
I said “for five years” because Oblivion didn’t deliver for me. I’ve been waiting for the next TES since I played Oblivion, that’s what I meant ;-)

  13. By samm511535 on Nov 6, 2011

“order canceled” how can u base game buying on on one dudes opinion of a game. I actually feel sorry for your stupidity and for what you will miss out on. All tes/bethesda games have been buggy and if that cant be overlooked for the much much bigger picture you dont even deserve to own a single one of thier games.

  14. By Joey on Nov 6, 2011

    To Samm511535,

I predict that you are not aware of sarcasm. given your concerns over people’s “PREORDER CANCELLED” statements, you may be a Dork! please refrain from being a Dork.

  15. By skyrim mage on Nov 6, 2011

Awesome game…i can’t wait to be a mage-necromancer and kill every single dragon.

P.S:you cannot easily understand sarcasm via internet or text messages as you cannot see the other person’s expression or hear his voice while he/she says it

  16. By What? on Nov 6, 2011

Did not enjoy morrowind and it turned you off RPGS?
    Nothing to do here.jpg
But seriously this is actually concerning if this idiot got turned off by morrowind and found skyrim good.
That means either that he’s speaking out of his ass or has never played Morrowind nor Skyrim.

  17. By joe on Nov 6, 2011

Not a fan of RPG’s but Elder Scrolls are the only once i play. Can’t wait.

  18. By tong9 on Nov 6, 2011

Canceling my pre-order as we speak. Any company that pays for positive initial reviews must know the game blows… all hail Dark Souls.

  19. By jinnjinn on Nov 6, 2011

If the other reviews are like this one, I will definitely not buy it. Why can developers make good games nowadays?

  20. By jinnjinn on Nov 6, 2011

    >If the other reviews are like this one, I will definitely not buy it. Why can developers make good games nowadays?

It should obviously say “Why CAN’T developers make good games nowadays?

  21. By shaun on Nov 6, 2011

You have to question a publication that has a typo on the first page of its review “when you level up you can CHOSE whether you boost health…”

  22. By Mr. Falcon on Nov 6, 2011

@Shaun I actually caught several typos.

  23. By Jhon on Nov 6, 2011

With this rewiev, Beteshda have lost a lot of skyrim buyers” <—- hyronic(for the people who dont understand this mode of lenguage)

  24. By Santa on Nov 6, 2011

Cannot wait!! Stockpileing crisps juice and blankets as we speak

  25. By Dirk on Nov 6, 2011

Sounds like a game I want to buy. I wonder if many people will miss that they game was developed by ID SOFTWARE?

  26. By sulferzero on Nov 6, 2011

seemed concise. and to the point, although we won’t know until we have it in our hands. I hope the bugs are few and far between, though his comparison to NV has me somewhat concerned.

Still we must have faith and trust that this is one for the ages

  27. By Beth Cole on Nov 6, 2011

    I love SKYRIM… 500 hours atleast…OMG Can’t wait.

This SKYRIM VID SAYS IT ALL FOR Me… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yovQKkY_WGg

    So &^%&^ Cooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. By Generally Kaiden on Nov 6, 2011

Man, I’m so hyped up for this.
I’ve already fully paid off my preorder, so there’s no point in cancelling it anyway :P

  29. By Uhurus on Nov 6, 2011

    @what,

he never played Morrowind. He jus’t wanted to give us the feeling he knows what he is talking about.

If you get scared in dungeons, skyrim is noothing for you ork!

  30. By blah on Nov 6, 2011

i saw this very same review about two months ago without the images… someone in the comments there said it was fake, and i believe it, seeing as there is a review embargo until the tenth. none of this is new info anyway.

  31. By Tommy on Nov 6, 2011

As soon as i read “the only other elder scrolls game i’ve played were Morrowind and Oblivion” i stopped reading and placed this reviews scores in the “retarded shit i want to forget” section of my mind.

  32. By IIWhiteEagleII on Nov 6, 2011

Why are people claiming this is a paid review?
How do you know…? Anyhow, I think this game looks amazing!

  33. By TRiPWiRE on Nov 7, 2011

People are cancelling their orders based on ONE review?

    I don’t even…

Sounds like childish tantrums to me.

  34. By dirk on Nov 7, 2011

no doubt a worthy Oblivion 2.0, but whats wrong with you guys, id software is never ever the developer of that game

  35. By endless-pleasure on Nov 7, 2011

Guys, of course this review is a fake…have a look at the website of “Atomic”, no review to be found, not even the same logo or sitelayout.. dont let your self get punked ;-) and dont cancel your preorder because a fan write down some things he dream of :-D

  36. By bill on Nov 7, 2011

it is the real thing the editor of the magazine is pissed off because the review shouldn’t be out yet, it’s also straight from the magazine not the website

  38. By shaun on Nov 7, 2011

@Mr. Falcon Yeah I posted that after reading the first page then noticed the whole thing is littered with mistakes. Fairly unprofessional.

  39. By Alduin on Nov 7, 2011

Not the best review I have read, but definitely the first one about Skyrim. Anyway, for me TES V deserves the maximum score (a 100%), cause it’s going to be the best action-RPG ever made and the best human creation, so far.

Bethesda’s team is the best company nowadays, in part thanks to the genious Todd Howard and, of course, to Jeremy Soule.

I am buying the PC version, because it will have better textures (confirmed by Todd) and plenty of extra stuff thanks to the modder community.

  40. By Thorno on Nov 7, 2011

Doesn’t like oblivion or morrowind this reviewer is not worthy of playing skyrim early…..anyway can’t wait for this game I’m literally craving it :)

  41. By dingus on Nov 7, 2011

This reviewer clearly doesn’t know what the hell he/she is talking about. They certainly shouldn’t be reviewing an Elder Scrolls game, but if they can’t get the developer right, how can any of their information be trusted?

  42. By david on Nov 7, 2011

what it didnt get 111% out of 100%? im not playing this game, 95% is just too low

  43. By WTF on Nov 7, 2011

    WTF?

It’s a good review so it must have been bought? If anything it looks like a bogus photoshop review because the page looks too clean for a scan (so where did it come from?) and developed by ID software??

And I don’t get the pre-order cancelled bolox – WTF? Are you joking?? You pre-ordered the game, read a good review and….. you’re cancelling?

    Muppets

  44. By Drakeso on Nov 8, 2011

So when Modern Warfare 3 comes out in Iraq and Afghanistan its gonna be like playing ‘The Sims’ for them? :P

    SKYRIM 4TW

  45. By Ryan on Nov 8, 2011

Could someone please clarify ”95% Is Just Too Low”. Is this guy serious?

  46. By Ryan on Nov 8, 2011

    And 2904739863946873478930970 to you too!

  47. By Bill on Nov 8, 2011

wasnt Daggerfall the first of these games

  48. By Kevin on Nov 8, 2011

No, I believe the first one was simply just Arena

  49. By Ryan on Nov 8, 2011

No, the magazine who releases a review has a choice in which they want to release it. IGN is releasing their review on 11/10/11 simply because they wish to release it on that date, they are trying to get into the game as much as possible. Also, adding to the people who think that it was a paid review. Why pick and Australian magazine? Why not pick a larger magazine to review it? This was not a paid review and I have to agree with this review, I have seen about 6 and 1/2 hours of gameplay from gameanyone.com (before they removed the videos) this game is pure “awesome sauce” and I look forward to purchasing this game.

P.S. To those being controversial on wether they want to buy this game or not. The features you wish you could do in Oblivion are all in this game. This game will suprise you on every path you take. This will be worth your 60 dollars and you will smile the whole time you are playing it.

  50. By Matt on Nov 8, 2011

I couldn’t give any less of a fuck from what all of you say. I will buy it and play it, and piss my wife off with neglect until TES VI comes out…..Next!!

  51. By breboop on Nov 9, 2011

95% that is shit. im canceling my preorder and buying Elder Scrolls Arena.

  52. By Paul on Nov 10, 2011

Some ppl make me laught by saying how Beth lost lots of buyers thanks to this review. Not really that much.
Remember, they don’t aim at arena/daggerfall/morrowind fans. They aim at Oblivion fans + people who found Oblivion nice but a little bit boring / empty/ schematic + new buyers (chrismass is coming, right?).
For me if this game would be exactly like Oblivion + handworked landscapes/dungeons it would be almost perfect. But it offers a LOOOT more, so it’s going to be beyond perfect I guess…
