Comparison: Metal Gear Solid 3 on PS2, 3DS, and PS3/360

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D has largely been considered irrelevant due to to Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. The collection is already out on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and technically gives you more bang for your buck as it features three titles from the series – including Metal Gear Solid 3.
Some series followers have also argued that the visuals in Snake Eater 3D have seen a downgrade compared to the original PS2 title. That did appear to be the case with some early screenshots, but a new round of images shows that the game’s graphics have improved a bit.
You can find an image comparison of all three Metal Gear Solid 3 versions (PS2, 3DS, and PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 editions from the HD Collection) above.

3DS looks way better. And have some features that make its version much more interesting and the best choice.

3DS, looks the best? You all most have not click the image and must have base your selection on the little image provide. Just a simple look into the image, and you’ll see the level of detail in the PS3, just looks at the edges of the entire body and you will see one looks like a bunch of squares without a define line and the PS3 looks much more detail. Does the colors look prettier on the 3DS, yeah maybe but they make it look less realistic.

Doing comparissions like this is stupid. The image is sized at 450×257. So you obviously would not notice any large difference between a scaled down 1080 hd image and an image made for a resolution around the 400 size.
What comparissions should do is upscale both 3ds and ps2 to a 1080 resolution, to see how they hold up in comparission.

Lol at these losers who think 3DS with all it’s jaggies looks better than PS3 version just because it have more saturated colors

3DS looks best and PS HD remakes are nothing but Sony pauper business tactics.

Sony fans in despair with the reality. LOL
Yes, 3DS looks way better, and have much more possibilities in game play that makes it fun, not just “pretty”.

You Nintendolts are truly individuals forever trapped in the mentality of a tween.
The PS3 version is miles better, don’t let horrible miss-use of contrast fool you into beliving the 3DS version is even close. The PS3 version is better in absolutely every aspect, and kept the artistic direction of the original, instead of butchering it with extreme unrealistic contrast only suitable to a 360 gaming audience.

err, can’t people see the added detail in the 3ds version, besides the obvious jags ,the 3ds version looks better. it isn’t washed out.

Anyone who doesn’t think the 3DS version looks the best is clearly on crack

3DS Snakes finger is made of razor sharp chainsaw so sharp it can cut through metal. PS3 snake’s finger is as smooth as butter. only Fools think darkening the color makes the graphics better. lol they are the same fools who make their montages on youtube super dark lol

Wow it’s the same thing here I see on Lens of Truth and Digital Foundry. Retarded PlayStation fanboys just can’t handle the truth that their platforms are being trumped by the competition. Pathetic!

3DS looks great, and ‘gasp!’It has MGS4 controls too! IN SNAKE EATER? NO F’N WAY.
By Shooters on Jan 30, 2012
generally developers would make the graphics closer to original…maybe it’s the reason the color looks washed out?
to me the ps3 version looks nearly identical to the ps2 in saturation and color and plus the game will be in HD. having said that, this only proves that the 3ds is way sub par

I have both ps3 and 3ds versions. While the Ps3 actually wins in color and smoothness, the 3ds version has that depth that screenshots just can’t show. In action the game is amazing! The crisp display of a 3d image beats a standard tv picture anyday. Volgins lightning, The Pains hornets, and falling leaves give you the visual pop that the ps3 can’t deliver. The hd remake is remarkable but the 3d version is a work of art. The 3d effect cranked up eliminates the problems you see in the screenshots plus making camouflage out of photos you take is quite useful. Need camo for those mountains?, no prob. I just took a pic of my brown floor a viola, instant brown camo! Throw in mgs 4 controls…. target reticle, crouch walking, not having to pause all the time to change and heal, easier hold up options… and you have a version of mgs 3 that shouldn’t be missed. In fact, if I were to give this game any fault, it would be that the game doesn’t move as smoothly as the ps counterparts. It moves kind of choppy [lower fps i guess] at first, but it won’t take long to adjust. Honestly though, you can’t go wrong no matter which version you play! Great job konami. ^_^
