Update 2: Now confirmed. Avi Arad is producing. Arad said: “For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters – and video games are the comics of today”. He also noted how “We will take our time and tell the story with all the nuances, ideology, cautionary tales needed.”

Update: One important note here: “movie” appears to be mentioned at the top of the photo.

Is there going to be a Metal Gear Solid movie from Hollywood? Slap a big old “maybe” on this rumor for now.

Just ahead of the Metal Gear Solid 25th anniversary event – which should be starting very shortly – an image has appeared showing what appears to be a collaboration between Konami, Kojima Productions, and Columbia Pictures. Notice that the photo above does indeed feature the Columbia logo.

Assuming this is real, we should be hearing about the partnership very soon. Again, the Metal Gear 25th anniversary event will be taking place in Japan shortly.

This will fail BIG Time. There are no really good videogame movies. Just bad and at best mediocre ones that have a certain flair.

@John, that doesn’t automatically mean there will never be a good video game movie. This may be good. Give it a chance. At least wait for more info before you pass judgment. Sounds like a lot of research and effort may be going into this. It might actually be fairly accurate with our beloved saga :P
