Sony suing Bridgestone over Kevin Butler’s Wii-related commercial?

Update: By the look of things, a formal hearing is set for October 12. While there were attempts to settle things privately, though that didn’t work out. Thanks to Nimblest-Assassin for the heads up.

Things are getting really weird with Bridgestone’s recent Wii-related commercial.

It all started when Kevin Butler was spotted in the company’s “Game On” promotion featuring the Wii. It didn’t take long for an updated TV spot to be released, this time featuring a new actor – and not Kevin Butler.

The latest twist in this saga is that Sony appears to be suing Bridgestone and Wildcat Creek, Inc. for the commercial. Ironically enough, it seems Bridgestone hired the Wildcat advertising company for the promo, and Kevin Butler – otherwise known as Jerry Lambert – is its president.

Sony filed against the two parties around a month ago. Documents reveal that the case is centered around trademark infringement. We don’t have the exact details on the situation yet, but one would think that Sony wasn’t happy that Lambert was in the commercial.

    I’m guessing “no”, since you’re hoping Jerry wins – if he broke contract, Sony is well within their rights to sue him. You don’t do that, point-blank-period.

    Dear sony and its’ fans,

    For the sake of humanity, please stop dreaming like we owe you money by spamming us on the internet with your vita ps3 promises we don’t even care. It’s so annoying like a crook selling snake oils. We understand you’re losing the gaming market pie these days, and it’s not gonna help everyone by putting the blame on people not giving you money.

    You used to be the king but nothing’s last forever, your era is done, it’s gone. People like us are getting wiser and do not need to listen to your fans who are aggressively posting ‘Opinions’ like gospel of salvation. They might have just felt pissed because your brand name is sinking quick like titanic. We understand they would put the blame on ‘Media’ for bias articles, but we also believe the ‘Media’ don’t owe you and your fans anything.

    So please accept the reality that you’re just trying to make profit out of us (including your fans too.) and that you can’t force people to buy your stuff all the time like we’re stupid puppets. NONE of your products can help us (or your fans) getting any money, in fact people are loosing money just for the sake of ‘games’.

    In short, we’re not your blind slaves for taking our money for monopoly. Thank you..

What did Sony PlayStation brand did to deserve this? oh, that right was it the $600 dollars price point that got people so mad, and now the machine is 50 percent off the original price. People are Dumb, bias, and need to get a life instead of bashing Sony, because the matter of the fact is you paying for something that not only not so innovated, but company like Nintendo and Microsoft are tricking Gamers with the same woo, but with an different angle.     Of course you idiots, pc is superior in tech aspects, kind of, lets put it this way: pc’s nowadays have better hardware than “this gen consoles”, but just because they were made after, they are powerful, faster, cheaper… A rig like that would be so much expensive than a console that powerful that days. Companies like sony, nintendo and microsoft just make you gaming experience more accesible. Hatred has gone a bit too far beyond… Ignorance.
