Data from this month’s NPD report has leaked, revealing US hardware sales for all platforms during the month of June.

The PlayStation 4 beat out all systems with 269,000 units sold. Xbox One came in second place having sold 197,000 units.

Other notable figures include Wii U with 140,000 units, 3DS with 152,000 units, and PlayStation Vita with 15,000 units.

Xbox actually did pretty good unlike what many thought and hoped

    • JerkDaNERD7

It’s a delusional that will not last. It’s all hope as the exclusives start rolling out towards the end of this year and til’ next year. We’ll see the truth then, it’s just too early now.

      • You are flat out wrong

Only delusion here is yours. Flopza Horizon 2 is not going to save the Xbone. By the time Halo ports rolls around in November the PS4 will have a million unit lead in the US. It’s over.

        • JerkDaNERD7

Yeah, PS3 should have been over given the year headstart…

          • You are flat out wrong

Only problems with the PS3 were the stupid price and lack of games. Time sorted that out. Time won’t dull the memories of what MS tried to do last year.

          • JerkDaNERD7

As a corporation swimming in money doubt you’ll disagree on them doing the same thing simply because they have to, just as Sony was when they were behind. Microsoft brought a great title in Gears, yet didn’t need to push as much given that they were the main multiplat console.

This time around they’re in a slight similar position, but much better than Sony was with the PS3. only people remembering last year are fanboys, gamers will game.

          • You are flat out wrong

All that money and barely any of it going to the Sh*tbox brand. Not surprising considering Nadella and Elop will be preparing that firesale. :^)

      • Not_true

The only delusions are coming from desperate microsoft fanboys grasping at any straw possible to pretend Xbox is going to start dominating sales.

        Sorry, wrong.

    • datdude

It is doing “pretty good”. Just not when compared to ps4. The difficult thing for Microsoft will be watching the numbers dwindle in the coming summer months, as they obviously got a spike in sales for dropping kinect which will evaporate quickly.

      • ilovegoogleglass

I don’t think so, but GamesCom should be everything to Xbox right now. This event could literally break or make them. Quantum Break looks like a blockbuster title, I’d expect a similar spike again next summer when it releases then. But I do hope Microsoft has a bomb or two for Gamescom, seeing Sony merc Microsoft last year was disappointing. Seeing Banjo threeie as surprise title wouldn’t hurt.

        • datdude

I don’t think gamescom will make or break Microsoft at all. The damage has already been done. It’s only going to get worse at gamescom and tgs because Sony still has rabbits to pull out of it’s hat with their first parties that have yet to reveal their projects. Microsoft doesn’t have that same tactic to fall back on. Their big gun was Titanfall, which didn’t do the trick as they hoped. The price cut helped, but not nearly as much as they hoped either. What’s left for them this year? Sunset Overdrive? Halo remaster? Sony will continue to dominate the sales charts for the remainder of 2014, and I don’t see that changing for 2015 at this point either, as the one game Microsoft has that may move consoles is Halo 5, and that is late 2015. They are in big trouble. I don’t particularly like to see it because gaming needs the companies to do well enough to provide competition which delivers better products for all of us, and if Microsoft’s new chief decides the xbox division is a sinkhole that keeps spending and not producing enough revenue and decides to sell it off, who knows what will become of xbox. The xbox one as it stands has no clear direction. They wanted to be the entertainment hub of the living room, that hasn’t happened. They just scuttled the xbox entertainment studios, which were supposed to be producing alot of content. They have changed just about every vision they announced upon the reveal of the xbone. They are completely lost. Phil Spencer seems like a good guy focused on making quality gaming content for the platform, but by the time the renewed focus delivers games for the xbone, it may be far too late to matter and too little in the face of Sony’s studios which have delivered quality content consistently for years. Microsoft made a severe miscalculation in what the marketplace wanted, and they are paying a heavy price for it.

          • ilovegoogleglass

The Xbox One and PS4 are actually pretty successful sales wise. It’s just the PS4 is the most successful from the both of them. I do agree, advertising the Xbox One as the best entertainment console didn’t workout to well after launch. Comparing Sony’s lineup to Microsoft’s, I can almost guarantee the Xbox One will win this holiday. There’s no doubt. I find all the rumors saying “Sony will kill gamescom” “Megatons everywhere” are all false hype from Sony shills. DemonNite from neogaf was hinting at 5 megaton announcements to be delivered at E3, but they’re yet to be seen. Sony seems to having a hard time delivering, but inducing a high quantity of indie tiles was pretty clever on their part. This would viably fill the AAA void. I’m afraid Sony might pull the same thing at E3.

To conclude Sony and Microsoft both need all the luck they can get. Microsoft is having a hard time being accepted as a real game console. Sony is having a hard time delivering.

          • datdude

Well, I think you’re off base because the ps4 has substantially more games available for it than the xbone has available. Neither console has delivered particularly fantastic first party exclusives to this point, so you can’t give Microsoft points for that either. And for early adopters that has to be expected. No developer is going to kill themselves to produce a game early on in the console’s life cycle because the sales numbers don’t support that heavy investment so early on. And I can “guarantee” the xbone won’t win the holiday, the exact opposite of what you’re guaranteeing. If they didn’t win the month win Titanfall, nothing else they have coming this year will get it done either. If the price chop didn’t allow them to “win” the month of June, I repeat, there is nothing they have coming to threaten the ps4. Sony will do at gamescom and tgs what it always does….reveal quality titles yet to be announced. That has always been their strategy. Unlike Microsoft, Sony has never shot their load completely at E3. Sony has surprises from some of their first parties still to be revealed. What surprises does Microsoft have left to show? Exactly. Now, I’m looking forward to seeing more of Quantum Break, but that doesn’t constitute a surprise.

          • Not_true

PS4 will easily take holiday sales this year, you’re delusional.

Xbox is selling less than 360 month to month, soon it will be selling less than 360 total at this rate.

          • ilovegoogleglass

And here comes the usual “You’re delusional” response. There’s no need to be defensive about this.

        • Not_true

First it was E3 2014, now Gamescom. The straw grasping never ends.

  • Thinkaboutit

Playstation sold more than the xbox so i guess i wont be enjoying my xbox anymore…

    • Runn

I see what you did there. LOL! I guess I wont be playing on my xbox one either. Tear.

    • ThePokeMaster

Is that what you thought the article was about?
Yes, NPD exists to suck out the fun out of Xbox platforms.

    • https://twitter.com/XisThatKid Xis That Kid

I won’t be either, I sold mine, I will be enjoying my Destiny BETA though.

    • Yes

The Xbox is in competition with the WiiU, not the PS4.

I am going to go run out and buy a ps4 now. Going to gamestop to cancel my xbox one destiny ghost edition, and canceling all of my other xbox one reserves. time to start all over on the ps4. New account, new trophies, new games, new hardware. All because of some sales numbers. (Epic sarcasm)

      • You are flat out wrong

May as well do, the Shitbox Done’s got nothing going for it.

  • Bozo Sapien

thuway isn’t the source of this. Gamecrate has been posting NPD data for months.

  • Ron Schwab

I have both systems and lovem both. But you have to remember that the PS4 is sold in more that 70 countries to where the Xbox One is sold in less than 20 right now. I own a video game store and keep up with this stuff ALLOT. The X1 is on pace to outsell the PS4 in the US by the end of this year. The margin is very minimal. Now I don’t expect it to ousell it EVER in Japan but the preoders for the X1 are ten times better than any Xbox product before. It will be interesting to see what happens after the holiday season who outsells who. Allot of peeps are waiting for Sony to drop the price. Well its not gonna be huge and the reason is that Playstation currently is the only profitable business they have right now. They are bleeding money right now. They simply cant afford to do it.

    • Guest

First of all, Cell phone, Playstation, Movie Studios, Sony Music are all profitable. You need to do you’re research before spewing bs. Also these are US sales only, they have nothing to do with global sales, so the ” released in more country ” excuse can stop now.

      • narg

No, Sony is not profitable in most of their ventures. Stop lying, just because you have Sony stock.

    • Not_true

Tier 2 countries will add about 5-10% to XB monthly sales at best (after the launch month). It’s never going to be a “close fight” globally. PS4 is going to be far ahead in global sales the entire gen. Delusional and ignorant prediction.

Xbox One will not outsell PS4 in the US by end of 2014. Delusional and ignorant prediction.

No numbers are available about Xbox preorders in Japan, let alone “10x better”. You are lying and wrong.

Several Sony divisions are profitable. You are lying and wrong.

You are clearly a deranged fanboy spreading lies, FUD, and hatred about Sony and PS.

      • narg

You are clearly a Sony fanboy. A bad one at that to lie about their profits that badly.

        • Not_true

Another fanboy flinging feces and screaming in response to facts and reality.

  • ilovegoogleglass

    Not bad.

  • thebrit

Well considering the XB1 sold almost 100k more than it did in May, I would say June was a very good month for it.

    • Not_true

      Not really.

  • Blakout516

You guys are retarted. The ps4 is still out in 13 markets. Come on get for real. When they open up markets that little edge ps4 has won’t be so edgy then.

    • joel

NPD only track’s US sales. Enough with the excuses.

      • Dakan45

psst crysis sold 3 mllion on pc same as crysis 2 on consoles.

Sorry to dissapoint idiot but when they went to consoles, theirgames and sales diminished.

    • Not_true

  • Jecht_Sin

So, basically, according to MS itself the XBone in US sold less than 100K units in May? What a success!!

    • You are flat out wrong

77k in May, actually. Total flop.

      • narg

I’d like to sell 77K of anything. How is that a flop? You really are stretching aren’t you.

        • You are flat out wrong

          Damage control harder.

  • You are flat out wrong

Xbone flopping. “Bu bu but I’m enjoying it so it doesn’t matter la la la!”

I love the taste of salty Xbot tears. Tastes like a worthless brand dying. :)
