Hideo Kojima tweeted a bit more about Metal Gear Solid V following his presentation at the Game Developers Conference today.

Kojima clarified that the “Ground Zeroes” aspect of the game is V’s prologue. You’ll also be playing the Phantom Pain section of the latest Metal Gear Solid, which takes place nine years later.

During his GDC session, Kojima demoed The Phantom Pain’s opening gameplay. What you see in the video is just the start of its section – there’s a lot more to see.

“Ground Zeroes” is a prologue of “MGSV”. 9 years after that event will be “The Phantom Pain”. MGSV is constructed w/ prologue and main game “TPP”. The game play demo I presented today is the opening of “TPP” which is tutorial that starts from crawling.

In a separate tweet, Kojima revealed that The Phantom Pain had been used as a codename for Metal Gear Solid V. He understandably wanted to keep things quiet and “were not able to use ‘MGS5′ outloud.”

“TPP” stands for “The Phantom Pain”. We used it as a project code as we were not able to use “MGS5″ outloud.

One last point: for Japanese gamers, Kojima prepared an alternate trailer with translated lyrics. He hopes that fans will “Enjoy with the meaning of the song.”

For Japanese audience, we added translated lyrics of the song by Garbage in the trailer. Enjoy with the meaning of the song.
